Slovenian National Theatre with a guard tower

Today, the north-western mural tower, a part of the former town walls, is an integral part of the Slovenian National Theatre built in 1885.

Previously a torture chamber, the tower has been welcoming travelling theatre companies since 1825. In 1849, this tower was the venue for the first staging of Linhart's play Županova Micka in Slovenian language.
