Gaberje Sports Society has a rich and diverse tradition.

Before World War II, it was known as Sokol; after WWII it was renamed to Partizan, and eventually to ŠD Gaberje. Throughout its history, it pursued its basic mission: motivate children, youth, and adults to adopt an active lifestyle.

ŠD Gaberje invites anyone to their centre for ball games, tennis, table tennis, bowls, or other exercise in three gyms and a multi-purpose outdoor court. Every year, they hold three traditional events: Cicibaniada with children taking on the challenge course; Frenk and Božič Memorial, a pan-Slovenian veteran table tennis tournament; and Gaberiada, a sports and entertainment gathering of the Gaberje district.  The purpose of all their activities is the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
