As a part of the project Forests for the Cities – GREEN4GREY, conducted by the Municipality of Celje in cooperation with Celje's local unit of the Slovenia Forest Service, new recreational, educational and experiential equipment has been installed in the Celje Urban Forest to upgrade the existing network of forest paths.
The project resulted in an addition of a children's playground on the third forest glade, new forest educational trails, a jogging trail with ten exercise devices, a small event stage, and several dozen new benches. The unique tree house made entirely of Douglas fir, the wood native to the urban forest, is designed as the urban forest's minor information and educational centre intended for groups of students and other visitors. This is the largest tree house in Slovenia.
It is open to all visitors of the urban forest. During the opening hours the entry is free of charge. View outside opening hours is possible by prior arrangement and payment in Tourist information centre Celje. The house is not available for rent. Its capacity is up to 30 persons at a time.
Access to the tree house is via an easy forest trail starting at the Meško well: https://www.google.si/maps/@46.2303532,15.2534387,3a,89.9y,173.89h,76.49t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sexxB5I2EkoOBZPkVgWKdmw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=sl
