Calvary (The Sacred Mount)

A renowned Calvary is located on the Jožefov hrib, consisting of four (out of the original five) chapels and the Golgotha group (penitent and impenitent thief alongside Christ on the Cross) on the top of the hill.

The sculptures are the work of Mihael Pogačnik of Slovenske Konjice; they were made at the same time as the chapels, i.e. in 1717. Two centuries later, they were restored by the sculptor Berneker who also contributed a new statue of Mary Magdalene.
